Youth & Children
Children and young people are a hugely important part of our church life. We believe in nurturing faith in children and teens who are already part of the church family, equipping them to love God in worship, each other in a fun community, and the world around them – from their doorstep to the other side of the world. We also want to share God’s love with other local children and young people, helping them to begin lives of discipleship as well.
All our youth and children’s ministries are overseen by our Acting Youth and Children’s Minister, Mel James.
We are careful to adhere to all current safeguarding procedures. For more information do contact our Safeguarding Office, Eleanor Jackson at the Church Office
Picture boxes: Sundays; Youth Group; Messy Church; Uniformed Groups; Coffee Break Under 5s
On Sunday all ages gather to worship. At St Matthew and St Oswald’s 10:30am service there are groups during the service for children and young people. We want this to be a time of worship, learning, fun and friendship that enables them to live out their faith in the rest of their lives.
There is a crèche for pre-schoolers, and then a group for reception to Year 5, and Year 6 to Year 9.

Our youth group is made up of young people who’ve grown up in the church family and young people from the surrounding neighbourhood.
They meet midweek once a week for socializing, going deeper in exploring faith, and a whole lot of crazy fun. The group is welcoming, and open to all newcomers, and it would be great to see any teenagers of Years 9-13 there.
Youth residentials are planned for the year ahead, as is the annual trip to Soul Survivor!
